Step into the role of a Food Safety Lab Specialist and be integral to the heart of our quality initiatives. Your contribution will include performing both routine and complex analysis to ensure our food products consistently meet stringent internal benchmarks, client expectations, and legal standards. Adhere to comprehensive food and personal safety guidelines, covering GMPs, OSHA, HACCP, FDA FSMA, and GFSI
Execute both regular and custom testing for internal teams and external clients
Swiftly notify the QA Manager and colleagues about any quality or safety issues
Collaborate on equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and manage detailed calibration records
Ensure lab and workspace cleanliness; fulfill sanitation assignments
Assist on R&D testing projects as needed
Act as relief for the QA Manager or Lead QA Technician
Undertake diverse tasks as needed
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline is advantageous
Proficient in problem-solving and analytical thinking
Efficient at managing priorities and time allocation
Understanding of material flow and manufacturing techniques
Skilled in Microsoft Office and adaptive to laboratory software
Strong communicator and enthusiastic team player
Capability to pass a Respirator Fit Test and execute tasks while wearing a respirator
Background in food production or quality assurance roles
Proficiency with laboratory and analytical equipment
Acquainted with food production safety, hygiene, and auditing protocols
Skilled in reading, interpreting, and fulfilling documentation such as instructions and procedures
Foundational math abilities, including working with fractions and decimals
Confident communicator within team environments and presenting results
Able to perform activities such as standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and reaching consistently
Capable of lifting/moving up to 50 lbs occasionally
Good optical capabilities, including close, distant, peripheral, and depth vision
Dynamic manufacturing environment
Exposure to dust, variations in temperature, airborne particles, and common wheat allergens
May involve working at heights and using auditory protection
