The School Nurse is responsible for the health and welfare of students, faculty, and staff during their attendance at school and serves as a liaison to parents, faculty, staff, and students on health and wellness issues. Responsibilities include treating minor illnesses and accidents, managing and administering prescribed medical treatments as needed, following NYS and NYSDOH protocols, and communicating these protocols to affected parties, including parents, faculty, and staff. This position collaborates with the Safety & Health Administrator to track and document student health records and maintain accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with local and state laws, including immunization requirements, physical examinations, communicable disease protocols, and medical condition management. Must be a registered nurse (RN) with an active BLS certification. Experience in school nursing or in the field of pediatric or community health nursing is preferred. Strong communication and administrative skills are required.
