Job Description
As a busy restaurant, we need a bartender with a positive customer service mindset who can ensure patrons have a wonderful time at the bar. Your duties will include taking customer orders, preparing a range of conventional and unique cocktails, offering beer and wine recommendations, and maintaining the cleanliness of the bar area at all times. This role requires a highly motivated individual with great organizational abilities and a customer-focused mentality. Responsibilities:
- Purchase needed bar supplies, stock and track all wine, liquor, and beer stocks, and have a full supply of glassware on hand, notifying management of any supply issues or shortages
- Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages including wine, beer, liquor, mixed drinks, and more
- Ensure that all customer checks and tabs are paid as well as record daily sales total and enter into point of sale system
- Properly identify customers' age through identification cards, and serve alcoholic beverages following all applicable federal, state, local, and company rules and regulations
- Perform all restocking and cleaning activities as directed, including opening and closing duties
- Ensure guest satisfaction from first to last interaction
- Must maintain a high level of knowledge of all menus and offerings by meal period
- Able to speak confidently about all food items, house cocktails, wines by the glass, draft beers, non-alcoholic offerings, and well spirits
- Maintain strong knowledge of liquor, beer & wine, esp. each brand in the bar
- Prepare beverages to company specifications, including techniques, ingredients, measurements, glassware, garnish, and preparation time
- Responsible for navigating the menu for guests with allergies and dietary restrictions
- Greet guests in a timely manner
- Maintain bar cleanliness, mise en place, pars, and water levels
- Accurately record and ring in guest orders
- Make recommendations based on guest preferences and stated requests
- Adhere to all food safety and quality regulations
- Open and maintain tabs throughout the shift
- Accurately and promptly process payments for guests
- Record and balance cash receipts and prepare cash deposits
- Maintain a clean and stocked bar at all times
- Maintain respectful communication with managers, co-workers, and guests at all times
- Maintain working knowledge of hotel offerings and be able to guide guests to the right place or person
- Follow TABC standards for alcohol beverage service
- Build a rapport with regular customers to create a positive atmosphere
- Complete opening and closing checklists
- Participate in cleaning duties as required by management
- Helps maintain the quality, prep protocols, and cleanliness standards
- Attend training classes and meetings as required by management
Qualifications:
- Candidates must have completed high school or received similar certification (GED)
- Prior food service industry experience is highly desired
- Displays impeccable time management and organizational skills
- Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers
- Proven customer service experience with a strong patron-focused mentality
- Willingness to meet and exceed guest expectations
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Resume and proven working experience as a bartender
- General knowledge of progressive food and drinks
- Have strong knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor, and standard drink recipes
- General interest in food, beverage, and hospitality
- Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation, and product inventory
- Ability to keep the bar, storage, and prep areas organized, stocked, and clean
- Be able to work in a standing and mobile position for long periods of time
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- Possess a valid food handling certificate and TABC seller's certification
- Must agree to a background check
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
