Job Description

As a Respite Nurse at ChildServe, you’ll provide one-on-one care to children with special healthcare needs in their homes or community settings. This important role gives families a much-needed break from the demands of daily caregiving—whether they’re attending a sibling’s event, managing personal appointments, or simply taking time to recharge. Schedule

Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Can be regularly scheduled or as needed.  

What You’ll Do

• Provide one-on-one nursing support in the home or community.
• Interact with the child and participate in fun activities. 
• Complete electronic documentation and paper MARS
• Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, trach cares, etc.

What You’ll Need

• Current valid RN/LPN license in Iowa
• Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience working with children with special health care needs preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing and speaking the English language.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
