Lark Hotels is seeking a passionate and experienced Seasonal Executive Sous Chef to join our team at Block Island Beach House. BIBH is the Island's summer kitchen and oceanfront porch, offering beach BBQ, fresh fish, sandwiches, salads, local beers, wine, and cocktails...all overlooking the best sunset views on breathtaking Block Island. Our popular restaurant seeks a skilled sous chef who can create innovative menus and dishes, supervise all food leaving the kitchen, and ensure health and safety requirements are followed. • Exceed guest expectations while increasing sales and profits and overseeing the success of day-to-day operations of the restaurant kitchen
• Work with vendors to secure the best items at cost-effective pricing, and manage department expenses that are within your direct control such as food, supplies, uniforms, and equipment
• Recruit, train, and lead all kitchen personnel while instilling a sense of teamwork through positive feedback, mentoring, and support
• Coordinate all kitchen food preparation, including processes, portioning, garnishing, and ensure that all meals and dishes are presented elegantly

Qualifications:

• Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with guests and coworkers
• Candidates must have completed high school or received similar certification such as a GED
• Understanding and compliance with kitchen sanitation, safety and equipment usage, and food storage
• At least 7-8 years of culinary experience
• This role requires experience building, motivating, and leading a team
