TELEMETRY NURSE JOB Descripti on :  

• High-level knowledge of cardiac medicine  

• Proficiency at operating EKG equipment and interpreting EKGs  

• Str on g oral communicati on skills to interact effectively with patients, phy sic ians and other staff  

• Leadership skills to direct the eff ort s of other staff and provide effective coaching  

• Knowledge of health informati on software used to maintain patient records  

• Multitasking ability to m on itor and care for multiple patients at on c e  

• Crisis management skills to resp on d to emergencies calmly and professi on ally  

• Thorough understanding of infecti on c on trol, privacy laws and health and safety regulati on s  

Medical Administrati on :  

• Administer prescribed medicati on s and treatments, observing for side effects or reacti on s.  

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.  

• Collaborate with phy sic ians, surge on s, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care plans.  

• Prepare patients for surgical procedures and ensure proper recovery after surgery.  

M on itoring and Rep ort ing:  

• Observe patients’ resp on ses to treatments, changes in symptoms, and complicati on s.  

• Rep ort any significant changes in patient c on diti on s to phy sic ians or senior nurses.  

• Maintain knowledge of patient charts and documentati on according to hospital policy.  

Patient Educati on :  

• Educate patients and their families on health c on diti on s, treatment plans, and recovery processes.  

• Provide guidance on home care, medicati on regimens, and lifestyle modificati on s.  

Infecti on C on trol and Safety:  

• Adhere to strict infecti on c on trol protocols.  

• M on itor patients for signs of infecti on , particularly after surgery.  

• Ensure the safety and comf ort of patients during their hospital stay.  

Team Collaborati on :  

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, which may include doctors, phy sic al therapists, and other nurses.  

• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate effectively with other team members about patient needs and status.  

Emergency Resp on se:  

• Resp on d appropriately to medical emergencies, including assisting in life-saving procedures when required .  

• Use critical thinking skills to assess and react to changes in patient status.  

Qualificati on s and Requirements:  

• Educati on : Registered Nurse (RN) with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).  

• Licensure: Valid state RN license.  

• Certificati on s: BLS (Ba sic Life Supp ort ) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Supp ort ) may be required .  

• Experience: Previous experience in a medical-surgical unit is often preferred.  

• Skills: Str on g clinical assessment skills, ability to work in a fast-paced envir on ment, excellent communicati on , and interpers on al skills.  

Work Envir on ment:  

• Work is typically performed in hospital settings such as medical-surgical units, post-operative recovery units, or step-down units.  

• Nurses may be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays, depending on the hospital's staffing needs.  

• The job may involve standing for extended periods, lifting patients, and other phy sic al demands.

• Ability to lift and move patients or equipment .  

• Str on g mental and emoti on al resilience to manage stress and patient care in difficult situati on s .
