Serving Maine’s Midcoast communities of Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Harpswell, and Topsham, MSAD 75 is home to over 2,350 students and more than 600 faculty and staff members. Mt. Ararat High School seeks a dynamic, engaging teacher of visual arts to lead instruction and experiences in the arts for our 725 students, beginning in fall 2025. Artist-educators with a passion for working with young adults are encouraged to apply to become the newest member of a department of three teachers of visual arts.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Serve as a Visual Art teacher of students in grades 9-12 at Mt. Ararat High School. Develop lessons and provide instruction in diverse visual art courses, including sculpture, printmaking, fiber arts and/or other specific courses. Collaborate with Mt. Ararat staff to implement existing curriculum in assigned courses. Maintain and develop assessments to support students in demonstrating creative knowledge and skill. Collaborate with colleagues, the department leader, school administrators to ensure students receive adequate support. Manage classroom behavior and support learning for students of varying age ranges and backgrounds. Provide meaningful communication with families in support of student learning. Support the academic and emotional needs of students participating in schoolwide programs, including Advisory and the Eagle Legacy Project program. Participate in professional work associated with curriculum development, planning, and assessment. Support and participate in non-instructional duties and other responsibilities, as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Visual Arts. State of Maine Certification (620) K-12 Visual Arts. State of Maine Department of Education background check (CHRC) authorization.  Previous teaching experience and familiarity with secondary Visual Arts curriculum preferred. Knowledge of integrated technology and experience with current trends in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Excellent organizational skills; a bility to skillfully manage time and scheduling across diverse needs. Professional manner, strong emotional intelligence, and desire to collaborate. Why MSAD 75?
