Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Metric is looking for a skilled and motivated leader to oversee the daily operations of our soon-to-open all-day café Mlli by Metric in Avondale. This role will involve managing our in-house bakery and leading a small baking team in our first phase, with the goal of expanding our offerings in phase two once our team and systems are well-established.

The ideal candidate has experience opening restaurants or bakeries and understands the dynamic nature of launching a new business. This role requires wearing many hats, demonstrating strong leadership, and maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Operations Management: Oversee all bakery operations, including production,

inventory management, and ensuring compliance with health and safety

regulations.

+ Staff Supervision: Train, and manage bakery staff. Delegate tasks, and ensure

staff adhere to established protocols and standards to hold staff accountable.

Ensuring staff is on time, clocked in and taking breaks, opening and closing

tasks are performed.

+ Quality Control: Maintain high standards for product quality and consistency in

conduction with the supervisor. Conduct regular quality checks and ensure all

products meet our specifications.

+ Customer Service: Ensure exceptional customer service by addressing customer

inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.

+ Financial Management: Monitor budgets, control cost and invoicing.

+ Inventory Management: Communicate with shift lead bakers to manage inventory

levels, place orders for supplies, and oversee stock rotation to minimize waste.

+ Menu Development: Collaborate with the team to develop new products and menu

items. Stay informed about industry trends and incorporate innovative ideas.

+ Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all bakery activities comply with health,

safety, and sanitation standards. Conduct regular inspections and staff

training.

+ Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of all

bakery equipment. Arrange for repairs and servicing as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a bakery or food service

management role.

+ Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in culinary arts or a

related field is a plus.

+ Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and multitasking skills. Excellent

communication and customer service abilities.

+ Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of baking techniques, food safety regulations, and

inventory management.

+ Certifications:  Food Handlers License (ServSafe), Food Safety Manager (ServSafe) certification is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

+Ability to stand for extended periods.

+Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

+Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

+Flexible schedule, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

+Work in a bakery environment with exposure to heat, cold, and various kitchen equipment.
